Version 8.82.3
+++ Hotfix +++
With SecurePIM version 8.82.2 we have updated OpenSSL internally to version 3.0.
OpenSSL 3.0 is stricter regarding the TLS settings. In some cases, this caused problems with SecurePIM, e.g. when TLS legacy renegotiation was still required for a specific TLS endpoint.
Please update SecurePIM to the latest version.

Jul 20, 2022 Version 8.61.2
Release Highlights:
- More usability for the Mail module
- SecurePIM Messenger: Notify participants to join a channel meeting
- SecurePIM Messenger: About mysterious channels and dark forces
What's new:
+++ SecurePIM Messenger: Notify participants to join a channel meeting +++
You're in a meeting and would need the expertise of exactly that participant who isn't present? How to contact that person quickly, you might ask. Well, the answer is with our new "Notify to join" feature. You'll find it in the list of channel participants – for all those who are currently not present. Shortly after choosing this option, the persons being notified will receive a push notification and can then directly join the channel meeting – depending on the security settings in place.
What's better:
+++ More usability for the Mail module +++
Yet again, some nice usability improvements have found their way into the Mail module:
- Easier navigation in zoomed emails: Give your tired fingers a rest and scroll through a zoomed email with just one finger. This way, you'll reach the desired content quickly and easily.
- Removing individual attachments from email drafts is much more comfortable: The touchable area of the Remove button has been increased. Welcome finger-friendly design.
- Even the last email in a folder now finds its way to the trash: The Plus button has been repositioned beneath the last email, making room for the Delete action again.
+++ SecurePIM Messenger: About mysterious channels and dark forces +++
Did we grab your attention? Let's dive into this version's highlights of SecurePIM Messenger:
- "Home Alone 2: Channel Lost in Space" – those sad times are over: Every new channel now requires at least one owner who is responsible for channel administration. And the owner can't just leave the channel and leave it to fate. At least one new channel owner is needed to ensure the full functionality of the channel. And if one day the owner has left the organization without having made someone else the new owner, the channel will be locked. All participants can then only see the content of this channel and will no longer be able to send messages or participate in meetings. Yet, they can delete the channel if they no longer need its contents.
- Switch over to the dark side: With this version, Messenger is all set and ready for usage in dark mode.
- And last but not the least, we've some layout improvements which will make use easier. Have fun giving it a try, and may the Force be with you … ;-)

Mar 30, 2022 Version 8.53.4
Release Highlights:
- Received emails in new design
- Event invitations got a face lift
- Edit documents – without fear of losing changes
- SecurePIM Messenger: Get your audio & video ready before a meeting starts
- More improvements in SecurePIM Messenger
What's new:
+++ Received emails in new design +++
The new email design brings order and clarity – so you can focus on what's most important. These are the design highlights:
- Security always comes first: Details about encryption and signing of an email are now shown at the top.
- Immediately see what an email is about: The subject has been put above the sender.
- Clarity is everything: Email recipients are positioned in a dropdown menu one below the other. Additionally, they're highlighted to indicate that you can tap them to view their contact details. And attachments are also easier to see.
- Enjoy the new personal touch: An email now comes with the sender's profile picture – if you've stored one, of course.
+++ Event invitations got a face lift +++
The design of event invitations has been improved as well: The information shown is more readable – thanks to larger fonts, a new structure and intuitive icons instead of reply texts.
+++ SecurePIM Messenger: Get your audio & video ready before a meeting starts +++
Adjust your audio and video settings already before you join a meeting in a channel. Like this, you have enough time to select the right microphone and turn on the camera – and can then fully focus on the meeting.
+++ More improvements in SecurePIM Messenger +++
Good things come in small packages. SecurePIM Messenger has 2 more nice features in its repertoire:
- Access your most important chats and channels quickly and easily: Pin them to the top of the Chats or Channels list by swiping them to the right.
- Still cutting your way through the jungle of information? Good news: With the new search in chats and channels, you'll now find certain messages more quickly and easily.
What's better:
+++ Edit documents – without fear of losing changes +++
You've just edited a document in the document editor and then accidentally tapped on "Exit" so that the document was closed and all your changes were gone? Luckily this is a thing of the past:
When closing a document, you'll now be notified about unsaved changes. So, you have time to decide whether to save or discard your changes, or to continue editing.
+++ Focus on security +++
With the update of the "OpenSSL" software library, a potential vulnerability has been fixed which could have led to a SecurePIM crash.

Use drop-down lists in SecurePIM Browser on iPads
SecurePIM Messenger: Mention someone in a chat
SecurePIM Messenger: Quickly see who in a meeting is talking
SecurePIM Messenger: User status shown in even more places
What's new:
+++ SecurePIM Messenger: Mention someone in a chat +++
You can now draw someone's attention to your message: Mention a person by typing the @ sign and choosing the person’s name in a group chat or channel. And the great thing is, the new feature not only works in messages but also in image comments.
You’ll see right away in the chat overview if someone has mentioned you.
What's better:
+++ Use drop-down lists in SecurePIM Browser on iPads +++
You can now also open drop-down lists on iPads in SecurePIM Browser, e.g., when filling out forms. The only limitation is that drop-down lists must not contain any clickable elements, as these are blocked for security reasons. Clickable elements include, for example, phone numbers, addresses, and dates.
+++ SecurePIM Messenger: Quickly see who in a meeting is talking +++
You’ll now see at a glance who is saying something in a meeting: The talking person’s profile picture or video is nicely highlighted with a colored frame.
+++ SecurePIM Messenger: User status shown in even more places +++
User statuses are now shown in even more places in Messenger, for example, when forwarding a message or in the details of a channel.

Sep 15, 2021 Version 8.40.1
Release Highlights:
Open URLs outside of SecurePIM
Autocorrection turned off in search
Finding emails without subject now faster
New and useful features in messenger, e.g., editing and deleting sent messages, sending multiple images at a time, and finding voice messages in a chat's media library
What's new:
+++ Open URLs outside of SecurePIM +++
You can now decide whether to open a URL in the SecurePIM Browser or outside of SecurePIM. This might be useful if a URL in SecurePIM has been blocked by your administrator or if you just want to open the URL in a different browser. Once enabled by your administrator, the "Open outside SecurePIM" option is available for all links in the Calendar and Mail modules. And with the security of your data always kept in mind, an automatic check for compromising syntax is always done before opening a URL outside of the secure container.
+++ Messenger: Editing and deleting sent messages +++
No more trouble with messages you've mistakenly sent too early. You can now edit an already sent message. And to ensure that all others will also know that something has changed, an edited message will be marked accordingly in the chat. If the content doesn't suit at all or if you just want to tidy up a bit, you may also delete a sent message for yourself or for all recipients. Using the new options is easy as pie: Long tap on a message and select the desired option from the context menu.
What's better:
+++ Autocorrection turned off in search +++
Searching for something in SecurePIM is now more fun: As sometimes autocorrection had a life of its own, it has been turned off in all search fields throughout the app. So, you're back in control of your keywords as they'll exactly stay as you type them. This hopefully helps you find what you're looking for.
+++ Finding emails without subject now faster +++
This has surely happened to all of us at some point or the other: It’s right before taking a break or leaving work, and we decide to quickly send that one last email. And then the inevitable happens: The email goes out without a subject. Good to know that with the new app version, the default subject text "No subject" is added to this kind of emails. This way they no longer get lost in the jungle of emails.
+++ Things continue to move forward for Messenger +++
Messenger comes with quite some useful improvements. Like to know more about them? Great! Sit back and enjoy the read…
Send multiple images at a time:
You can now send up to 10 images at a time in your chats and channels. To do so, you can choose them from Secure Photos, your iOS Photos app, or take shots with the SecurePIM camera.
Send a comment with your images:
Add a nice comment to an image before sending it. Both image and comment, are then shown in one speech bubble.
Find voice messages in the media library:
Forget about endless searching for older voice messages in a chat or channel. You'll now find them in the media library. What's also quite nice there: A voice message is shown together with the name of the person who sent it as well as the date and time it was sent.

+++ Hotfix +++
An issue with registration and login with SmartCard was resolved. The workflows are working flawlessly again.
Release Highlights:
Email links allow for direct access to file server
Global address list (GAL) search can now be customized
Nice improvements to Messenger, e.g., for voice recording and location sharing
What's new:
+++ Direct access to file server via email links +++
Team collaboration is getting easier and even more effective:
You can now access folders and files on your file server directly from the SecurePIM Mail module via a link sent in an email. Files are then downloaded and opened in the Documents module.
As always, the security of your data is of the highest priority. That’s why you’ll need to consider a few things before using this new feature:
Links must be configured as UNC paths, for example, and you as the recipient must be logged in to the corresponding file server via SecurePIM.
But no worries... no magic needed to learn how it works.
What's better:
+++ New setting for searching contacts in the global address list (GAL) +++
Finding a contact in your global address list (GAL) now even faster: Like when you're searching in your SecurePIM contacts, results for GAL contact search queries can now also be displayed immediately after you’ve typed in the first character. This only requires configuring the respective number of characters in SecurePIM Management Portal.
+++ Things continue to move forward for Messenger +++
There are quite some cool improvements to SecurePIM Messenger that are worth mentioning:
If you’re using SecurePIM Messenger on an additional device, you’ll now get notified about this new registration. The "Manage devices" button in the message displayed takes you directly to your device list. There, you can double-check your registered devices and log out or delete devices. And good to know: Existing channels will be synced between the server and all registered devices.
Voice message fans, listen up! The recording function comes in a new design, with intuitive and simplified user experience. There's the new sound wave animation, clearly indicating when you’re in recording mode. And easy access to all related options in one place: Listen to your message before sending it, delete it to get the old audio out of the way, and start recording a new one to finally send it.
New look & feel for Location feature – Attention please, here come the highlights:
You’ll now see all shared locations on one map and can retrieve details about how long a location is shared with you. And you can contact the person who shared their location directly from the map, either via chat or call.
You can set an expiration time not only for your live location but also for any other location you’ve shared.
And, last but not least, you can now share your live location not only in single and group chats but also in channels. Have fun giving it a try!

Release Highlights:
Tap & Meet: Join online meetings with only one tap
SecurePIM now also available as a default mail app on iOS 14
Messenger comes with some pretty cool, new features
Customize search engine for SecurePIM Browser
What's new:
+++ Tap & Meet +++
Joining meetings made easy: You'll now find the hint "Online Meeting" in your invitation. And next to it the “Join” button. Just tap it and you're in.
This also works for meeting links in emails, documents, and contact details as well as in SecurePIM Browser. To join a meeting from there, simply tap on the meeting link.
+++ SecurePIM now also available as default mail app on iOS 14 +++
On iPhones and iPads running iOS 14 and higher, you can now also select SecurePIM as your default mail app to open an email via your device's settings.
+++ Messenger comes with some pretty cool, new features +++
With the new, automatically set user statuses shown in the list of participants of a group chat or channel, for example, you’ll know at a glance who of your colleagues is available and may help you out. Good to know: You can manually change your automatically set user status at any time.
New message statuses and read receipts: Depending on the urgency of a particular project, it can be quite helpful to know whether a chat message has been sent or read. You’ll find the message status at the top of each message bubble, as well as in the details of a message.
Self-deleting messages are now also available for group chats and channels. Enable self-deletion of messages via the new stopwatch icon. Then set the time after which messages sent by you will self-delete. And once set, deletion applies to all messages you send from then on. So, it's best to disable this option immediately in the same way, if you no longer need messages to self-delete. A word of caution: Recipients can still save these messages outside the chat or channel.
What's better:
+++ Customize search engine for SecurePIM Browser +++
You can now set your preferred, default search engine for SecurePIM Browser in the app’s Settings.
+++ For security reasons, number of open tabs in SecurePIM Browser now limited +++
To prevent malicious websites from opening a large number of tabs automatically, the number of open tabs in SecurePIM Browser is now limited. As soon as this limit is reached, you’ll be informed and can decide to close all tabs and start from fresh. Everything for the security of your data.
+++ Only latest push notifications in iOS Notification Center +++
Notifications shown in iOS Notification Center will be removed by default as soon as you open SecurePIM. This way, delivered notifications you received earlier will no longer be mixed with new notifications. Not your preferred push notification setting? No problem: Just disable the “Remove delivered notifications” option in the SecurePIM settings. You’ll then see notifications received earlier, delivered ones as well most recent notifications.

Reply feature for chat messages in Messenger
Move profile picture in video conferences

The native time and date picker introduced by Apple in iOS 14 is now also available in SecurePIM Calendar, Contacts, and Tasks.
+++ Reply feature for chat messages in SecurePIM Messenger +++

+++ Move profile picture in video conferences +++
If your own profile picture covers a part of the screen showing important images or information, simply move it to a different place. And everything is visible again.
What's better:
+++ Dark mode in document editor +++

Nicely rephrased app texts will guide you to find your way through the app.
Messages in chats and channels are now displayed in nice speech bubbles.
+++ Bye-bye mirror-image images in video conferences +++
You'll now see participants' faces as they look in real life. Also, texts on shared pages are no longer mirrored.

3 Feb 2021 Version 8.24.2
Release Highlights:
Opening Links in SecurePIM Browser
Detect URL Spoofing in SecurePIM Browser
New features for the Messenger
What's new:
+++ Opening Links in SecurePIM Browser +++
The SecurePIM Browser gets new features to open links. Here, the behavior of the SecurePIM Browser has been adapted to the behavior of Safari to offer users a consistent browsing experience.
Some links in the browser are defined to open automatically in a new tab. This is from now on also implemented by the SecurePIM Browser.
+++ Detect URL Spoofing in SecurePIM Browser +++
URL spoofing is a deception method, where, for example, identical copies of of websites are created to get access to certain user data (e.g., username and password). Mobile devices are especially vulnerable to URL spoofing because the address bar is often too short to display the entire URL of a website and detect possible URL manipulations. With this release, the security-related information of the URL is displayed from now on and not the beginning of the URL as before.
In addition, SecurePIM does not display the transfer protocol as text abbreviation HTTP or HTTPS but instead shows a corresponding lock icon. The red warning color of the lock ensures that the user recognizes an insecure connection to the website more quickly. It also creates more space to display the URL.
+++ New features for the Messenger +++
With the new "Share camera view" function all conference participants will then see your camera view or screen in full screen mode. You can use this feature for presentations.
From now on, you can easily and quickly show the other participants what you see in front of you. With the new function "Switch camera", you can switch between front and rear camera.
What's better:
+++ Messenger improvements +++
The number of profile pictures of participants in video calls in channels and group chats has been increased from 4 to 8 tiles. Additionally, the first name and the first letter of the last name are now displayed on the tiles below the profile picture.
The "Raise hand" feature lets you call attention to join the conversation.
The number of active speakers in meetings can now be configured by the administrator on the server. So participants who want to join the conversation no longer have to wait for a microphone to become available, depending on the limit.
In screen sharing and split camera view, the image optimally adapts to the available space according to the selected device orientation (portrait or landscape).
When disabling incoming videos in a video call, the profile pictures of the other participants and the own profile picture, as well as a split screen or a split camera view now remain visible.
+++ Support Email Address Removed +++
If an error occurs in SecurePIM, users may receive an error message that they should contact the support team via a specific support email address. As SecurePIM was sometimes unable to display individual support email addresses, the support email address was removed from all error messages. The user now receives the error message "[...] Please contact your support team". This refers to the user's internal support team.

Release Highlights:
Switch from UIWebView to WKWebView in Browser Module
Caller-ID and Secure Camera in Messenger Module
What's new:
+++ Switch from UIWebView to WKWebView in Browser Module +++
With the April release we have started by converting the Mail module to WKWebView. With this release the Browser module is updated. SecurePIM has now been completely converted to WKWebView. As a new feature the browser receives a progress bar, which shows the current loading status of the called page. All other functions of UIWebView, particularly security functions, were ported to WKWebView. In general users will benefit from WKWebView by pages loading more efficiently and faster.
+++ Caller-ID and Secure Camera in Messenger Module +++
Users can now see who is calling via the Messenger module, even if SecurePIM has been closed, locked or previously terminated. In addition, calls can be answered without logging in to SecurePIM.
SecurePIM Messenger now uses SecurePIM´s own camera. All modules in SecurePIM now use the same camera with identical functionality. Captured photos are stored encrypted and do not leave the secure container.
Additionally, profile pictures of contacts are now visible in the Messenger module. If a contact does not have a profile picture, the initials will be displayed.
What's better:
+++ SecurePIM Messenger Improvements +++
When a user shares a document from the Documents module in a chat, he is now automatically redirected to the corresponding chat. Under the name of the respective chat a banner appears to return to the Documents module with one click. The workflow is no longer interrupted and the user can continue chatting immediately.
Additionally, the icon for "bad network connection" has been changed.
+++ Mail Spoofing Protection +++
Mail spoofing is used to create malicious emails that pretend to be signed by another person. To limit mail spoofing attacks, the user interface in the Mail module has been improved. Under the name of the sender (which could be fake) the recipient sees the email address of the person, who actually signed it.
+++ Call Identification +++
The contact´s company name can now be displayed for incoming calls. This makes it easier for the user to distinguish between contacts with the same name. This functionality is available when the iOS caller interface (CallKit) is used to identify calls, as long as it is enabled by the admin.
+++ Export Contacts +++
When exporting contacts to the local contact directory, the corresponding company name can now also be exported. This will help the user to distinguish contacts with the same name.
Additionally, contacts are now sorted also by first name, if two contacts have the same last name.
+++ OAuth with Two-Factor Authentication +++
To further enhance security, SecurePIM now supports OAuth with two-factor authentication. Two-Factor authentication is supported for the apps "Microsoft Authenticator" and "Duo".

Shared Calendars
Secure Clipboard
Switch from UIWebView to WKWebView in Mail Module
What's new:
+++ Shared Calendars +++
Users can now view shared calendars in the Calendar module. Being able to see the events in other people's or teams' calendars makes it easier to manage appointments. Shared calendars are only available for the Exchange Web Services (EWS) protocol. Permission to view a calendar must be granted by its owner (outside of SecurePIM, i.e., in Outlook).
+++ Secure Clipboard +++
With this SecurePIM release we are introducing the Secure Clipboard. This new feature allows you to copy, cut, and paste text in SecurePIM without the information leaving the secure container, i.e. the text cannot be accessed by the iOS system clipboard or other apps on the iPhone.
+++ Switch from UIWebView to WKWebView in Mail Module +++
We have updated the iOS system component UIWebView to WKWebView in the Mail module. Due to this update, the functionalities for Speech-to-text dictation and Cursor (arrow) keys on external keyboards are available again in the Mail module.
What's better:
+++ Stronger Certificate Checks +++
In order to further improve security, the checks performed for trusting server certificates have been made more strict. All certificates in the trust chain must now comply with requirements for minimum key length and signature algorithms. This also applies for S/MIME certificates. For details on the certificate criteria please see our detailed release notes.
+++ SecurePIM Messenger Improvements +++
If the mobile or Wi-Fi connection is poor during a SecureVoice call, the call is not disconnected immediately. Instead, an attempt to reconnect is automatically initiated. A symbol indicating a poor connection appears. Additionally, the layout for the iPhone X has been improved and the UX when removing a user from a group chat has been changed.
+++ Favorites in Mail Module +++
E-Mails from contacts marked as favorites are now marked with a star in email lists (e.g., inbox, sent items, local drafts) to distinguish them easier.

Email drafts are now synchronized between SecurePIM and Outlook on desktop. Drafts are available in both environments for viewing, editing and sending at a later point in time. This function is available for ActiveSync 16 only. When using S/MIME encryption, drafts are automatically saved and synchronized with the server encrypted. Email drafts are marked in the email list accordingly.
+++ Searching Emails +++
The email search functionality has been improved. Search now encompasses search results for the term entered, search results for the term in an email's subject, and search results for people, i.e., email addresses. These results can be further sorted by emails received from or emails sent to the person searched for.
+++ Documents in SecurePIM Messenger +++
The Documents module has been integrated into Secure Messenger. This makes it quicker and easier to securely send and receive documents. Users can now also share documents, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF directly from the SecurePIM Messenger or from within the Documents module.
+++ Message Badge in SecurePIM Messenger +++
SecurePIM Messenger has been outfitted with badges to inform users of new unread chat messages or missed calls. A simple red circle appears on the bottom navigation bar and in the workspace. A blue badge in the list of chats indicates the number of unread messages in this chat.
What's better:
+++ SecurePIM Messenger Improvements +++
The SecurePIM Messenger now has a new icon. Additionally, Dark Mode was improved, in particular regarding contrast.
+++ Forwarding Emails in Offline Mode +++
While offline, emails can be prepared for sending, and can now also be forwarded if no or not all attachments have been downloaded. The user is notified accordingly and can decide how to proceed.

version 8.4.2

Release Highlights:
Shared Calendars
Secure Clipboard
Switch from UIWebView to WKWebView in Mail Module
What's new:
+++ Shared Calendars +++
+++ Secure Clipboard +++
+++ Stronger Certificate Checks +++
In order to further improve security, the checks performed for trusting server certificates have been made more strict. All certificates in the trust chain must now comply with requirements for minimum key length and signature algorithms. This also applies for S/MIME certificates. For details on the certificate criteria please see our detailed release notes.
+++ SecurePIM Messenger Improvements +++
